Click. You turned slowly to face the door. Tentatively, you tried the handle. To your dismay, it was locked. You couldn't help letting an exasperated sigh slip out of your mouth, followed by, "You've got to be kidding me."
You turned around and put your back to the door. Now you faced him. He was stuck in this room with you, and you just so happened to have feelings for him. "Well then. Do you have any ideas?", you asked hopefully. "Welll..." He thought for a moment, as you held your breath. "Nope. I've got nothing. I'm sorry." You let your breath out with a sigh. Then you slid to the floor and pulled your knees to your chest. The farther from him that you were, the better off you'd be.
"What are you doing?", he asked you. You lifted your head to look at him and replied, "We might as well get comfortable, until one of us comes up with an idea to get out of here." "Oh", was all he said. He sat on the floor in front of you with his legs crossed.
You let your head fall back and rest on the door behind you. Another sigh escaped your lips, as you both sat in silence. Soon, it became increasingly awkward. Relief flooded you when he spoke, "At least we're in a room and not a closet." He chuckled nervously, and a light blush dusted your cheeks. The thought of being locked in a small space with him was frightening to say the least.
"I guess that's an upside.", you said, giving him a small smile. Just as you finished your sentence, you heard a series of noises that sounded suspiciously like the air conditioning. You groaned, "Please tell me that wasn't the AC turning off!" "Umm... I guess I won't tell you, then...", he said. You muttered under your breath for the second time in less than thirty minutes, "You've got to be kidding me."
It was fine for a while, since the cool air that was left, sank to the ground where you were. But soon, heat settled in. You fanned yourself slowly and stared off into space. The Doctor soon took off his coat and suit jacket, laying them on top of a shelf next to the wall. For a second you thought about how long you'd be in here, and with where this seemed to be heading... No! Snap out of it ____! That is not going to happen! Control yourself! He doesn't feel like that, and neither should you! You forced your head to think of ways to get out of this room, or at least turn on the air conditioning again.

The heat was starting to intensify, and small beads of sweat started to form on your back and temples. The Doctor loosened his tie, and it took all of your will power to focus on something else. You had to ask him, "Isn't there anything you can do?! Sonic the air vent or something?" He went to the air vent in the wall and inspected it as he said, "If there was a control panel, or if the wiring ran through here, then maybe I could, but..." "There is none, is there?", you finished for him. "Unfortunately. Also, I seem to have left my sonic screwdriver somewhere...", he replied. You dropped your head onto your knees with a sigh. Again.

It was getting so uncomfortable now, that you where starting to pant slightly. You wiped your forehead, and stood up. You decided that you might as well explore the room that you were stuck in.
You picked up a random object that was sitting on one of the shelves. It was completely foreign to you, so you decided to carefully put it back where you had found it. In case it might combust. Moving on to the next item, you asked the Doctor, "What is this room, exactly?" You finally looked back and found him across the room inspecting his own shelf of baubles. Without looking away from whatever he had picked up, he replied, "I believe that it's some kind of storage." "You believe? How do you not even know what's on your own ship?!" "Hmm... Lots of rooms, not a lot of time to visit them." You shook your head. This is coming from the man that has a time machine. He has all the time in the world, yet not enough time to explore his own ship. So, while fanning your shirt, you moved on to the next question you had, "Do you know what all of this stuff is?" "Ooohh, yes! I most certainly do!", he spun around, holding up another foreign object. His face shined with excitement. He took long strides toward you, as you leaned against the self. He stopped once in front of his jacket, and fished out his glasses.
Once he was in front of you he held the object up to the light. He slid his glasses onto his face and peered intently at the thing he picked up. With excitement still evident on his face and in his voice, he told you, "This, my dear ____, is from the planet of Jarto! It was a gift from their ruler after I saved their planet from mass destruction!" "So basically it was just another day for you?", you joked, raising your eyebrows. "Yep.", he agreed as if he hardly heard you. You laughed at his optimism. Even though the temperature was still slowly rising, he had plenty of enthusiasm.
The Doctor continued to stare at his toy, while he completely took off his tie. He absentmindedly put it down on the shelf behind your head. Sometimes you wished he knew how you felt, if only for the purpose of you avoiding such awkward moments. Of course that would never happen, at least not as long as you could help it. And of course he never found them awkward. He seemed never to notice that he would come so close to you. Your heart would beat out of control, and it was a shock that he never heard it.
You slid away as carefully as possible, while the Doctor continued to examine the object. You walked around in the room, trying to fan yourself. Sweat was collecting on your back, and you were starting to get a bit thirsty.
You sat down again, against the wall. The Doctor came over, and sat down next to you. He unbuttoned two of his top buttons. You quickly found something else to look at. The wall across from you seems interesting. What a nice color of paint.

After a while, "We need to get you out of here. If you don't get water soon, you'll be dehydrated.", the Doctor said with a hint of worry in his voice. Your eyes started to droop as you said, "I'm fine." The Doctor shifted in front of you and put his hands on your face. You would have been freaking out, if you weren't so tired and dizzy. His hands were surprisingly cool, but you pulled away. You continued to insist, "I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
He frowned, but dropped his hands. Finally, even though you really wanted to avoid this, you started to pull off your shirt. The Doctor's eyebrows raised and he quickly looked away. You blushed and rushed to assure him that you had a tank top underneath. The Doctor visibly relaxed.
Once your shirt was off, you almost started to feel better. The temperature had ceased to rise, but now you could barely speak. Your throat and mouth were so dry it hurt.
You sat in silence with the Doctor. It wasn't awkward like before, just silence.
Being a Time Lord seemed to help keep his temperature even for longer than a human. The Doctor had just started to perspire. You, on the other hand, started to feel as though you would pass out. You had actually stopped sweating. All you wanted, was to get somewhere cool and have a nice long drink of water.
You tried to break the silence, but it took a couple of try's to get your voice to work. Finally, you were able to ask, "How long have we been in here?" Your voice was rough and husky, and it surprised you. It sounded as if you hadn't spoke in years. The Doctor looked at you with worry covering his face, but managed to reply, "I assume more than a couple of hours." You returned to staring at the wall, and gave a small nod of acknowledgement.
It wasn't long after, that you started to feel yourself slipping from consciousness. You were only able to mutter out, "Doctor...", before you slumped sideways against the wall. The last thing you saw before you fainted, was the Doctor leaning over your body with panic on his face.

You woke up. You noticed that you were in another room. It was clean and white. It rather reminded you of a hospital.
When you tried to sit up the Doctor was immediately at your side. He lightly pushed your shoulder, and made you lie down again. His face was radiating worry. You had to ask, "What happened? The last thing I remember, we were stuck in that room..." He grimaced and explained, "Yes. Well, then you had to go and dehydrate yourself, and faint. I had to knock down the door thanks to you." He rubbed his shoulder, and you bit your lip. You apologized, "I'm sorry Doctor. I'll fix the door for you..."
He laughed, and replied quickly, "Oh no! I wouldn't make you do that. You need rest. And water!" Then he rushed out of the room, seeming to be back to his old self now that you were awake. You tried to laugh, but it came out as a cough. Water would be quite nice at the moment.
Soon he was back with a glass of cool, clear water. You slowly sat up as he handed it to you. As you raised it to your lips, the Doctor warned, "Drink small amounts. Your body needs to get used to having fluid in the system. Or else it'll reject it, and you'll be in worse shape." You nodded and took a sip. It took all your will power not to gulp it down. You were so thirsty.
After you were satisfied, you brought the glass from your lips and handed it back to the Doctor. He put it carefully on a small table next to your bed. Then he sat on the bed and looked at you intensely. The goofy Doctor was gone and replaced by a more serious one. You almost asked him what was wrong, but he spoke first, "I was worried about you, ____. I thought I would lose you."
You stared blankly at him for a moment, then gave a small laugh. "Oh, Doctor. I'm not going out that easy. I've survived so much worse. It would be a shame if I left you because of dehydration." You looked at the Doctor and saw that his face was still serious. You wondered if he had been serious when he said he thought he would lose you. He had sounded so concerned. You tilted your head in confusion, then opened your mouth to ask him what he meant. Before you could, you noticed the Doctor's face getting closer to yours.
Just as you noticed this, his lips were on yours. You were too shocked to move. Too shocked to return the kiss, even though it was what you had always wanted. All too soon, the Doctor pulled away. His face burned with embarrassment, and he fumbled out, "Oh no. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have... How stupid! I'm sorry! I'll just go..." He tried to dash off into his ship, but you grabbed his wrist before he could go.
With wide eyes and your heart still beating out of control, you asked him, "Is that how you feel about me?" He stared at your hand wrapped around his wrist, then up at your shocked face, then back down at his wrist. You slowly released him, but kept staring nervously at his face. Watching him closely for any change. His opposite hand reached up and scratched behind his head. He looked nervous and guilty.
"I know. I'm sorry. That was completely inappropriate. I shouldn't have done that.", he stumbled out apologies. You shook your head and firmly stated, "Doctor. You didn't answer my question. Is that. How. You feel. About me?" The Time Lord sighed and couldn't make eye contact with you. Instead, he stared at the ceiling. He took a deep breath and looked down at you. He released his breath with a quiet, "Yes." You swallowed. You couldn't believe what you had just heard. He felt the same way you did. He kissed you!
You snapped out of your revelation to hear him say, "And since you obviously don't feel the same, I mean you didn't exactly kiss me back, I think we should just forget it ever happened." The Doctor rubbed his face in frustration. It was what he had feared. You didn't feel the same. It would never be the same between you. You might even ask him to take you home. His heart would break if that happened.
You whispered, "Kiss me again." The Doctor was taken aback. His eyes widened and eyebrows rose. Did you just say what he thought you said? He asked uncertainly, "Excuse me?"
You spoke louder this time and repeated, "Kiss me again, Doctor." "I-I... W-What?" "Please.", you practically begged. With nerves racking through both your bodies, the Doctor sat back on your bed. He leaned in close. Your eyes fluttered half closed, bracing yourself. He stared at you, not believing what was happening. He committed everything to his memory. Every curve, every inch of your perfect face.
You felt his breath envelope your face, and your heart jumped. He brought his shaking hands up to the side of your head. They immediately stopped when they touched your soft skin. They cupped your face gently. His thumb tracing circles on your cheek. He wanted to make the moment last forever, yet he didn't want to wait any longer.
He leaned in ever so slightly and touched his lips to yours. You could barely contain a gasp. A spark traveled through your body. His lips were soft and smooth. Every moment felt full of passion, tenderness, and longing. You raised your own hands to lay on his shoulders. They soon traveled up his neck and behind his head. It could only be described as pure bliss.
Finally, you broke apart for air. You both could only stare into each others' eyes. You both tried to catch your breath, as the Doctor's hands moved from your face, down to your hips. You let a small smile light your face. The Doctor never wanted to see that smile leave. He couldn't help but smile in return. He leaned in again, and you braced yourself for another kiss. To your disappointment, he brought his lips next to your ear instead. His breath tickling your ear, and sending shivers down your spine, he told you playfully, "Oh, you are never leaving me now." Your heart sped up and you replied simply, "Never."
He pulled away and a feeling of sadness followed. Thankfully, he took your hand in his and pulled you off the bed with him. The smile on your face just didn't seem to want to fade. He spun you close and asked, "Well, Miss ____, how about we celebrate this new find with a vacation! Anywhere in particular?" You thought to yourself that it didn't matter where you went, you were happy as long as you were with him. But instead, you decided to say, "Ever hear of, 'Go where the wind blows', Doctor?" His face broke into one of his signature grins, as he replied, "Oh, yes!"
Yes! I finally finished it! This took too long to write, because of school, and the fact that I have been writing whatever has jumped into my mind.
Also, I don't entirely like the title, but I couldn't exactly think of something else. I /definitely/ don't like the ending. I'm terrible at writing endings. So sorry if you don't like it.

Inspiration came from the fact that most reader inserts that I have read, have all been cold. As in, you and the Doctor are stuck somewhere cold, and you end up cuddling. This idea is cute, for sure, but I wanted to do something different. Hopefully this was.

**How you get into this situation with the Doctor is completely up to you.
Picture is not mine! But I do like it. :)
Another of my random one shots. Hope you like it, and I hope I post more soon.

WARNING! Carry on reading! Or you will die, even if you only looked at the word warning! Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died. Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a Monday night at 12:00 a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if you copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes you will have the best day of your life tomorrow. You will either get kissed or asked out, if you break this chain u will see a little dead girl in you

It's a phrase that sort of means you should be spontaneous. The wind is usually seen as fickle and blows any way it wants. Since the wind can change direction and go anywhere, the phrase is saying you should follow it and go anywhere you want too. Does that make sense?
